Conference for Practical Philosophy
The Conference for Practical Philosophy is counted as one of the largest german-speaking philosophical conferences, involving 150 speakers and more than 100 topics each year. The contributions vary from philosophy of technology and AI over migration to climate and medical ethics. The conference sees itself as a place of open and appreciating philosophical discussion, providing a forum especially for young scientists to present their work to an international public. Contributions from neighbouring disciplines, such as education, social and political sciences or law, are accepted as well.
The Conference for Practical Philosophy was launched by Gunter Graf, Martina Schmidhuber, Gottfried Schweiger und Michael Zichy at the Paris-Lodron-University of Salzburg in 2013, where it took place for 10 years until 2023. From 2024 onwards, Prof. Dr. Karoline Reinhardt will organise the conference at the University of Passau in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Birgit Beck from the TU Berlin and with Michael Zichy (University of Bonn) and Gottfried Schweiger (Paris-Lodron University of Salzburg) .
