AI in a democratic society - article published in “zur debatte”, issue 2/2024

Prof. Dr. Karoline Reinhardt's lecture “Language models, truthfulness and the social nature of knowledge: Artificial intelligence in a democratic society” was published in the current issue of the journal “zur debatte” of the Catholic Academy in Bavaria as a follow-up to the Philosophical Days on the topic of artificial intelligence.

The Philosophical Days were organized last autumn by the Catholic Academy in Bavaria. Prof. Dr. Karoline gave a lecture on the question of what the design of AI development should look like in a democratic society and what impact current AI developments have on democracy and democratic processes using the example of generative language models based on Large Language Models (LLMs).

Together with Prof. Dr. Michael Reder (Munich School of Philosophy), she then discussed questions from participants on artificial intelligence. She also led a working group in the study library, which further deepened the exchange on AI topics.
