The German-language double master's programme "Intercultural Management" (IKM) combines cultural/social sciences with economics.

Interdisciplinary teaching and research is fundamentally gaining in importance in all sciences. In today's modern world, many questions and challenges are extremely complex and can hardly be answered adequately by a single subject science. Important new insights are increasingly being gained on an interdisciplinary basis and in research fields that lie inbetween classical subjects. In international cooperation of companies and politics, in international communication and intercultural dialogue, interdisciplinary competences are crucial.

The Master's programme "Intercultural Management" was introduced at the Turkish-German University (TDU) Istanbul as one of the first programmes back in 2013. It was build after the model of  the "International Cultural and Business Studies" programme of the partner university in Passau, which has been offered there with great success since 1989. The double master's programme IKM at TDU complements this programme and focuses on the Turkish-German perspective.

The double master's programme is research-oriented and practice-oriented. The main subject areas are intercultural communication, communication studies, spatial cultural research/cultural geography and history on the one hand, and economics as well as  business administration on the other.

The courses are taught by German and Turkish lecturers from TDU and the University of Passau, as flying faculty.

The double master's programme provides for a one-semester stay at the partner university in Passau in the third semester for all IKM students. The stay abroad is supported by a bilateral scholarship programme (DAAD/YÖK) , which serves to support 20% of the students with financial support. In addition to the compulsory teaching programme, the stay aborad serves to deepen language skills, to get to know the German/Bavarian culture better and to establish contacts with academics, companies and institutions. The university infrastructure of Passau is to be used intensively for research for one's own Master's thesis. The Master's students are supervised by their own IKM programme office at the University of Passau.

During their studies at TDU, the Master's students should also be introduced to current research questions and learn about challenges in practice. Lectures, workshops and conferences/symposia, with international speakers, are held on important topics of "Intercultural Management". All of these events are prepared and accompanied by the students, where they can make a variety of contacts with academics and specialists from companies and other institutions.
