Historically, the origins of the Kant Society can be found in its foundation in 1904 by Hans Vaihinger in Halle on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Kant's death. Its aim was to promote and disseminate the study of Kantian philosophy, primarily by supporting the journal Kant-Studien, which was also founded by Hans Vaihinger in 1896. After the Society's activities came to an end in the second half of the 1930s, it was re-established in Bonn in 1969. Today, the Kant-Gesellschaft e.V. Bonn is still dedicated to publishing Kant-Studien and Ergänzungshefte, holding congresses every five years, organizing lectures and providing information on all issues relating to Kant research and is open to all interested parties.
As a member of the Executive Board, Prof. Dr. Karoline Reinhardt is particularly committed to promoting young talent and the visibility of diversity in Kant research.
