VHB Project in cooperation with the University of the Bundeswehr Munich
In March 2019 the Chair of Intercultural Communication has started an online seminar project, which is financed by the Virtual University of Bavaria (Virtuelle Hochschule Bayern, VHB). The research assistant Marcella Poguntke develops in cooperation with the University of the Bundeswehr Munich led by Prof. Dr. Dominic Busch a Classic VHB Online Seminar on “Intercultualists: thinking and acting interculturally” (Original title: „Interkulturalisten: Interkulturell denken und handeln“). Further support is received from student assistants of both consortium partners and the Centre for Information Technology and Media Services of the University of Passau.
The online seminar will be attended by students of both universities starting from approximately winter semester 2020/21 and can also be visited by enrolled students of all universities within the Free State of Bavaria.

Interview with Prof. Dr. Dr. Steven Vertovec
On Tuesday, 21st of Janaury 2020, Dr. Martina Maletzky had the opportunity to interview Prof. Dr. Dr. Vertovec. In this interview he talks about his biography, his research and what inspired him to his research.
Prof. Dr. Dr. Steven Vertovec is the Founding Director of the Max-Planck-Institute for the research on multi-religional and multi-ethnic societies in Göttingen. In addition, he is currently working as Honorary Joint Professor of Sociology and Ethnology at the University of Göttingen.
Interview with Prof. Shalom H. Schwartz
On Thursday, 31st of October 2019, Marcella Poguntke had the honour to interview the famous value researcher Prof. Shalom H. Schwartz in a virtual conference. Prof. Schwartz is a US-American-Isreali social psychologist, cross-cultural researcher and the originator of the Theory of Basic Human Values.
To raise the suspense, Prof. Schwartz shared insights and experiences of his life, gave meaningful advise to the future attendees of the online seminar and young researchers in general. He further provided his opinion on where his field of research might be going in the future.
Interview with Milton J. Bennett in Leuven
On 1st June 2019, Prof. Christoph Barmeyer had the opportunity to interview US sociologist Milton J. Bennett at the SIETAR Conference in Leuven, Belgium, for the VHB online seminar. Among other things, Milton J. Bennett is considered the creator of the development model for intercultural sensitivity.
Interview with the interculturalist Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Lüsebrink
On the 7th May 2019, the Chair of Intercultural Communication filmed an interview between Professor Christoph Barmeyer and his former doctoral supervisor, Professor Hans-Jürgen Lüsebrink (on the right) from the Saarland University, in cooperation with the University of Passau’s Centre for Information Technology and Media Services. The interview addressed Professor Lüsebrink’s personal career in intercultural research, the content of his research as well as the formative events and influences of other persons and interculturalists on his work. Prof. Lüsebrink also made interesting suggestions for future topics and gave early career researchers some inspiring words along the way.
