Introduction
Master of Arts in Russian and East Central European Studies
The Master of "Russian and East Central European Studies" at the University of Passau, which started in the winter semester 2008/09, is a research-oriented and interdisciplinary study programme, in which highly qualified graduates from diverse bachelor programmes from the University of Passau as well as from other universities and colleges of higher education in Germany and abroad work on related issues. The extension of regional knowledge on Eastern Europe as well as general methodological skills will be part of the curriculum. The Language Centre of the University of Passau offers courses in Czech, Polish, and Russian into which students can enrol to further improve their skills in an Eastern European language. The knowledge and the skills acquired will prepare the students for jobs in diverse academic institutions, in business, culture, administration and politics. The students will also be experts in intercultural communication. The focus on Eastern Europe will provide a special regional competence in one of Europe’s important developing areas.
Upon graduation, students are awarded the degree of Master of Arts (M.A.).
Programme duration
The duration of the programme including exams is 4 semesters (standard period of studies). 120 ECTS have to be achieved (30 ECTS per term).
The curriculum starts each winter semester. The students have to pass an entrance examination.
