Dr. Diana Mistreanu
Habilitandin

Diana Mistreanu holds a doctorate in French and Francophone literature from the University of Luxembourg and the University Paris-Est Créteil (2019). She is currently working on her habilitation dissertation, in which she investigates contemporary French and Spanish autotheory through the lens of 5E cognition. She is interested in literature and literary and narrative theory from an interdisciplinary perspective. Her main research areas are: the cognitive literary studies, the medical humanities, indigenous literatures, autotheory, zoopoetics, translingual fiction and contemporary French-, English- and Spanish-language literatures. She is particularly interested in the literary depiction of human and animal cognition, and in the contributions of cognitive science to interpreting and studying literature. Her articles appeared in journals such as Dalhousie French Studies, Fixxion and SubStance.
In 2023 and 2024, she was a Passau International Centre for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies (PICAIS) fellow. She is currently a PYREC (Passau University’s Young Researchers Excellence Centre) fellow. She was awarded the 2024-2025 Jean-Cléo-Godin research mobility scholarship by the CRILCQ/AIEQ (Université de Montréal) for her work on Indigenous literatures.
In July 2024, she co-organized the conference “Les Autochtones et/dans les arts et les littératures du Canada francophone contemporain”, which brought to the University of Passau representatives from three of the eleven Indigenous nations of Quebec.
More recently, she received a grant from the Canada Research Chair (CRC) in the history of non-dominant cultural practices (Chaire de recherche en histoire culturelle de pratiques non dominantes) to organize the conference: “Decolonizing comparison. Trans-Indigenous readings of contemporary literature from Canada and the rest of the Americas” (May 22, 2025, UQAM).
