- To be able to understand and question complex relationships,
- As future leaders, to be sensitive to inherent and often discriminating power structures
- To train the application of theoretical assumptions to intercultural contexts
The sessions link up the micro levels of intercultural interaction with the meso and macro levels. In the similarly structured teaching research seminars, acquired theoretical principles are applied in easily understandable research projects, including instruction in methodological skills, which are of great importance for writing theses.
Cultural focus: Mexico
Dr Martina Maletzky de Garcia’s research focuses on the interactions of cross-border mobility (international assignments, migration), organisations and interculturality. She combines organisational sociological foundations with intercultural interaction research and selected issues of migration sociology.
a) Organisations and cross-border mobility: mobility regimes, interculturality and working conditions in the context of international assignments and migration
- The impact of organisational internationalisation on employees’ working conditions and living environment
- Organisational mobility patterns
- The structuring of interculture in international assignments
- International assignments in NPOs (working conditions, institutional influences on mobility regimes)
b) Interculturality in the context of migration and integration
- Integration of refugees and organisations
- Organisations as corporate boundary spanners
- Integration of refugees into skilled trades: challenges and organisational integration
Current research projects:
- Employee mobility in non-profit organisations
- Übergang in den Beruf – (interkulturelle) Herausforderungen von Geflüchteten, Bildungsinstitutionen und Handwerksbetrieben (in cooperation with the Lower Bavaria/Upper Palatinate Chamber of Crafts)
