A new book titled 'The Spy Who Impressed Me. Zur kollektiven Wirkung und kulturellen Bedeutung von James Bond Filmen', edited by Professor Christoph Barmeyer and Dr Jörg Scheffer, throws a critical light on the impact of the famous secret agent based on analyses of the films’ content structure and representational patterns.
The special feature: the thematically original anthology was created in the context of courses. The contributions are by (former) students and based on numerous stimulating interdisciplinary discussions on James Bond films.
Over 40 fans gathered for the book presentation with film sequences at the Museum of Modern Art in Passau on the evening of 19th November 2013, and ended the evening in style with a vodka martini...

4th to 7th July 2013.
EGOS – European Group for Organisational Studies – is an academic, sociologically-oriented association that has been researching organisations, their structures, cultures, processes, stakeholders and contexts for decades.
The focus of the section was on how stakeholders can succeed in structuring interculturality in organisations and in creating new, third, cultures: intercultures. 22 participants from over ten countries attended the section, presenting interesting questions and cases that pointed to the contextuality of social and management practices and the emergence of intercultures.

9th–14th September 2013. The topics covered in the course were interculturality, international transfer in multinational corporations, intercultural complementarity and competence in organisations as well as intercultural personnel and organisational development. The course was attended by students from the Beijing study programmes Intercultural Communication, Intercultural German Studies and German Foreign Policy and Economics.
Prof. Barmeyer was invited by Prof. Wenjian Jia, Vice President and Dean of the German Department at BFSU and Chairman of the Advisory Council for German Studies at the Chinese Ministry of Education. The guest lecture took place within the framework of a cooperation between the Beijing Foreign Studies University and the University of Passau, in which both master’s students and doctoral candidates participate.

Elias Jammal, Professor of Intercultural Studies, reads from his autobiographical narrative, which sensitively, touchingly and even humorously links the personal and profound experiences of the Palestinian Nono with historical events.
The book shows the contrasts of life situations, the joys and sorrows that can befall a young person and the extent of cultural religious conflicts that then materialise in personal destinies.
The novel repeatedly throws a smirking peek at German culture, in which the protagonist Nono moves and develops as a teenager.
