International and Cultural Business Studies/Langues Etrangères Appliquées of the Universities of Passau and Aix-Marseille. The programme prepares German and French students for their stays in Passau and, above all, for their studies.

In the programme, which has run for many years and is funded by the German-French University, students acquire comprehensive interdisciplinary knowledge in the fields of cultural and economic sciences, foreign languages and intercultural research with a focus on German and French. The double master's degree, which includes two national academic diplomas, makes the graduates particularly interesting for the German and French labour markets, especially at interfaces between German-French organisations.

From 31st October until 4th November 2016, Professor Barmeyer was at the Turkish-German University (TGU) in Istanbul and held the lecture 'Interkulturelles Management' for the fourth time since the foundation of the University. Chair staff Andreas Landes and Dr Martina Maletzky also contributed lessons to the Intercultural Management programme. On the initiative of Professor Izzet Furgaç (coordinator of the Turkish-German University Consortium), Professor Barmeyer attended a reception held by the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Istanbul and exchanged views on German-Turkish relations with Professor Marianne Braig (Free University Berlin), Dr Ruth Lang (Head of Central Administration at the German Bundestag) and the Member of Parliament Petra Ernstberger. The occasion was the awarding of the International Parliamentary Scholarship (IBS), which enables candidates from 41 countries to shadow members of parliament during their parliamentary work and to study at a university in Berlin.

Research stay by Professor Allain Joly as part of the Visiting Scholar programme in the winter semester 2016/2017, HEC Montréal.
From 29th September until 17th October 2016, Professor Allain Joly, HEC Montréal, visited the Chair of Intercultural Communication to work on a joint research project together with Professor Christoph Barmeyer. The project seeks to explore the relationship and cultural-institutional-specific potential of global creative cities and multinationals in terms of creativity and innovation processes, taking a contextualised and (cultural) comparative perspective based on the cities of Montreal and Munich. The aim of the study is to examine strategic, cultural-structural and intercultural-process-oriented aspects of creativity and innovation in the context of Global Creative Cities, i.e. their characteristics, their functioning and the results they produce.
The visit was supported by the Welcome Centre of the University of Passau, which supports visits by foreign visiting scholars.

kommunikation' and the advanced seminar' Organisationen und Management im Film – Interkulturelle Organisationsforschung', the discussion formed the practice-oriented conclusion of the summer semester. The panel discussion featured Dr Armin Bender (Managing Director of MSG Passau), Thomas Pannkoke (independent shipping company director) and Robert Firmhofer (Head of the City of Passau Central Office). They provided insights into the challenges and synergy potential of interculturalism in their work environments. Comparing profit and non-profit, public service and business enterprises, as well as specific contexts such as inland shipping, the peculiarities of the organisational context and its effects on dealing with interculturality became particularly clear. The panel was moderated by Professor Christoph Barmeyer and Chair employee Andreas Landes.

Dr Teissier’s teaching and research activities focus on German-French relations, cultural transfer and mediation, political and social systems in comparison, feminism and gender in Germany and France and European remembrance culture and discourses. She was also French coordinator of the Aix-Passau double master’s ICBS-LEA programme from 2012-2015.
There have been close exchanges between the Universities of Passau and Aix-Marseille for decades, which is reflected in joint double degrees, courses and projects (such as conferences and publications).

Innovation as a central element in the development and modernisation of social systems, such as organisations or societies, has been a high priority in academic research for many decades. Katharina Krüth's doctoral thesis examines social interaction and institutional framework conditions that are of central importance for innovation processes on the basis of qualitative case studies. In her work, 'Regionale Innovationsnetzwerke in Frankreich. Das Zusammenspiel von Nähe, Kooperation und Lernen innerhalb der pôles de compétitivité', the author addresses the nature and functioning of collaborative relationships within French regional innovation networks. In doing so, she examines the extent to which spatial proximity, cooperation and learning actually follow one another in line with the expectation of innovation policy instruments.
